Free Brazilian Professional Soccer Program for Children in Poverty
Soccer For Hope is an initiative that provides children in poverty an opportunity to learn Brazilian professional soccer, interact with children from other communities, receive free tuitions and develop their personalities in a Christ-centric environment, surrounded by love, mutual respect, equality, friendship and joy.
We're providing a fair and high-level platform for youth from underprivileged communities to come out of poverty, social isolation, and achieve their dreams to become professional athletes. We bring kids from different locations, castes, social and religious backgrounds to interact with each other. They build lasting friendships based on equality, justice, love, peace, mutual respect and understanding. This enables a better future for all. Our aim is to form not only athletes but also model citizens who will contribute positively with their communities and nation. Our hope is to see these kids becoming an effective witness for Christ within the International soccer scenario in Asia, trusting and glorifying God.
WHAT WE DO OFF THE SOCCER FIELD?
A key element of our sports ministry model is discipleship and mentoring. Our coaches work with our soccer students off the field as they teach about God's love, character, help with schooling, share personal testimonies, educate about public health, and encourage them in their family life and relationships. And there is more. Because we live in a fallen world the suffering of those in poverty is immense. It’s not just physical poverty; it’s emotional poverty, spiritual poverty and relational poverty. Our international work is focused in the poorest of communities. We cannot look away from the desperate need of the children and families we serve with sports ministry. Meeting physical, emotional and educational needs is very important but the prayer of VSM is ultimately Gospel transformation.
